Worldwide solar power initiatives continue to grow

The use of solar power continues to gain momentum worldwide. According to a recent study conducted by the German solar association BSW-Solar, approximately 22 gigawatts (GW) of solar and PV capacity were installed around the world during the first half of 2015. The survey also notes that 50 GW will be added in total by the end of the year.

As of last year, there were about 178 GW of solar PV capacity installed worldwide. Within the next four years, this number is estimated to more than double, reaching at least 400 GW by 2019.

This growth can be attributed to the decreasing costs of installation, as well as greater awareness about the benefits of going solar. The price of solar panels has decreased by about 50 percent since 2010, with the help of tax incentives, utility company rebates and installation price reductions.

If all this good news has you wondering about how to adopt solar into your own life, you may be wondering: How exactly do solar panels work?

Solar panels contain photovoltaic cells and silicon wafers that harness and transform sunlight into energy. The energy is then sent to an inverter, which converts it into electricity to power the home. Although some homeowners have been led to believe that they should only expect to see the financial benefits of solar panels over time, this is not the case. Some homeowners have seen a difference in both utility costs and energy consumption during their first month of solar installation.

Having solar panels installed is a process that takes both time and expertise. Ensure yours are installed correctly and quickly with help from the experts at SolarMax Technology.
