According to Campus Technology, the San Mateo County Community College District (SMCCCD) has created an energy efficiency project aimed at reducing waste and creating a better management system across its three colleges and 82 buildings.
The college, which enrolls 40,000 students a year, has contracted Schneider Electric to upgrade its building automation and control systems and install an analytics system to generate a real-time analysis of building systems. The hope in taking this initiative is to reduce energy consumption while encouraging others to do so as well.
"Once completed later this year, the district will have the ability to continually monitor and improve its energy performance from a single interface while achieving its broader education goals," said a recent news release detailing the project.
Although this initiative is on a larger scale, solar panels for your home can also make a significant difference in reducing household energy waste. Harvesting sunlight for energy needs is a cost-efficient, environmentally responsible action that also saves money for homeowners by reducing monthly electricity costs. As energy rates continue to increase in California by an average of 6.5 percent each year, installing solar panels locks in a low rate for homeowners to save thousands on energy bills for years to come.
In addition to monthly savings, the average residential solar panel system reduces the CO2 emissions equivalent of taking a sedan off the road for one year.
SolarMax understands that not all panel installations are the same for each home. Our skilled and experienced design team of experts will work with you to ensure your home gets the set of panels best suited to your house's needs.
